Built natively for macOS • Universal Binary

The notepad
your Mac has been waiting for.

No bloat, just absolute speed. Built from the ground up with Swift and AppKit for instant log inspection, rapid scratchpads, and zero telemetry.

macOS 26 or later Apple Silicon & Intel 100% Offline & Local Zero Telemetry

Designed exclusively for macOS

Fast, uncluttered, and deeply integrated with Apple’s design language. See how NPad looks on your Desktop.

Engineered without compromise

Every line of code is dedicated to making NPad the fastest, most reliable notepad on your Mac.

100% Native Swift & AppKit

Forget heavy, Electron-wrapped editors that consume gigabytes of memory and battery. Built purely with Swift and native macOS AppKit APIs, NPad launches instantly and uses around 17 MB of RAM.

Zero Telemetry & Sandboxed

Your code and personal notes stay 100% on your Mac. NPad operates strictly inside Apple’s App Sandbox, has no network access at all, and collects no tracking data.

Large Files, Opened Instantly

A 150,000-line, 7.7 MB log needs only about 30 ms of editor setup, and typing stays around 1 ms per keystroke. NPad lays out only the part of the file you can see, so big server logs and crash reports stay responsive.

Scratchpads & Persistent Drafts

Jot down temporary notes, paste formatted text without carrying styles, and close the app at any time. Your drafts are automatically restored without forcing you to pick a save folder or deal with modal alerts.

Everything in the Sidebar

Drafts, open files and recently closed files live in one macOS 26–style sidebar. Filter by name or folder, drag to reorder, and right-click a file to Close Other Files, Show in Finder or Copy Path. Press ⌃⌘S to hide it. Right-click NPad in the Dock to jump to any open file or start a new one.

Keyboard-First Workflow

Native macOS shortcuts for the things you do all day, so your hands never have to leave the keyboard.

  • ⌘F Find & Replace
  • ⌘L Go to Line (accepts line:column)
  • ⌘1–⌘8 Jump to a file, ⌘9 to the last
  • ⌃Tab / ⌃⇧Tab Next / previous file
  • ⌃⌘S Show / hide the sidebar
  • ⌘⇧D Duplicate line
  • ⌘] / ⌘[ Indent / outdent
  • Edit → Transformations: UPPER, lower and Capitalized case

New in this release: a sidebar replaces the tab bar, with your drafts, open files and recently closed files in one place. See what’s new →
